NCO Combat Instructor Demonstrates 'Up-Knee'
U.S. Army Sgt. Allan Sterling, operations non-commissioned officer and combative instructor, 443rd Civil Affairs Battalion, demonstrates how to perform an ‘up-knee’ from the inside control position during the Army Basic Combatives Course, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Feb. 13, 2014. The course teaches a systematic approach to fighting and training in close quarters. Service members learned close combat techniques, drills and skills during half-hour daily practical exercise classes throughout the 40-hour, five-day course. They also watched films and attended lectures covering various training techniques. On day five, the students were assessed and had to correctly perform and explain five ground and five standing techniques.
