PFC Attempts 'scissor sweep' during Combatives Course
U.S. Army Pfc. Swade Hix, attempts a "scissor sweep" on his opponent, while being coached by 1st Sgt. Mark Wilbur, Modern Army Combatives Program Level II Assistant Instructor, during the Basic Army Combatives Course, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Feb. 13, 2014. The course teaches a systematic approach to fighting and training in close quarters. Service members learned close combat techniques, drills and skills during half-hour daily practical exercise classes throughout the 40-hour, five-day course. They also watched films and attended lectures covering various training techniques. On day five, the students were assessed and had to correctly perform and explain five ground and five standing techniques. Hix is Camp Lemonnier Security Detachment military police and Wilbur is with the 443rd Civil Affairs Battalion.
