Lt. Col. Dennis Edwards, 443rd Civil Affairs Battalion (CA BN) commander and Command Sgt. Maj. Steven Santiago and Sgt. Scott Woodbury encase the 443rd CA BN’s colors during a transition of authority ceremony on Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti May 3, 2014. For nearly nine months, the battalion conducted military-to-military engagement to strengthen partner nation capacity. They also continued to build on a strong foundation with local military forces, civilian population, and civilian authorities as well as advise the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa commanding general on the civil environment.

CA team raises health awareness in Djibouti

Service members assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, in cooperation with the government of Djibouti, recently kicked off a health awareness campaign in Petite Doudah, Djibouti. Soldiers with the 407th Civil Affairs Battalion functional specialty team and CJTF-HOA medical specialists are facilitating a 48-week Basic Home Health Awareness program to educate Djiboutians on issues essential to healthy living.
