CAMP KASENYI, Uganda -- (June 22, 2011) Ugandan People's Defense Force (UPDF) soldiers prepare to clear a building during a Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) demonstration on June 22, Camp Kasenyi, Uganda. Clearing a building helps ensure the facility does not contain enemy forces or noncombatants. This technique is used in urban environments by military and civilian police forces around the world; along with keeping soldiers and noncombatants safe, the tactic provides soldiers with a secure location from which to further operate. These soldiers attended the 16-week Kasenyi Special Forces Group Advanced Infantry Training Course taught by UPDF instructors and soldiers assigned to the 1st Battalion 161st Field Artillery and the 2nd Combined Arms Battalion 137th Infantry, attached to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
