Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa leadership meets with international partners in Mogadishu

U.S. Navy Rear Adm. William Wheeler III, deputy commander of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), and Col. Søren Knudsen, Military Advisor to the Royal Danish Embassy and Defense Attaché Kenya, Nairobi, converse after a defense steering committee meeting, Nov. 3, 2016, in Mogadishu, Somalia. The venue allowed members to discuss Somalian defense security situations, AMISOM challenges, and the current dynamics seen by all sides. US AFRICOM Commander Visits East Africa Region
U.S. Air Force Gen. Dagvin Anderson, commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and AFRICOM senior leaders, conducted a series of high-level visits to Africa with stops in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Puntland, Nov. 23-27, 2025. The visits were part of an East Africa trip aimed to strengthen America’s strategic approach to confronting terrorism through mutual engagement, stronger cooperation, and aligned security priorities.
