CJTF-HOA Civil Affairs team teaches local children oral hygiene, preventative care

U.S. Army Sgt. Justin Wallace, a dental specialist with the 443rd Civil Affairs Battalion functional specialty team, showcases proper teeth brushing techniques on a dental typodont during an oral hygiene demonstration in Djibouti City, Djibouti, Aug. 8, 2017. With demonstrations such as these, the team is accomplishing a Civil Affairs core task of building partnerships and relationships with local populations that will assist the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa in its efforts to achieve security and stability in the region. US AFRICOM Commander Visits East Africa Region
U.S. Air Force Gen. Dagvin Anderson, commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and AFRICOM senior leaders, conducted a series of high-level visits to Africa with stops in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Puntland, Nov. 23-27, 2025. The visits were part of an East Africa trip aimed to strengthen America’s strategic approach to confronting terrorism through mutual engagement, stronger cooperation, and aligned security priorities.
