Combined Joint Task Force - Horn

U.S. Embassy Djibouti, Djiboutian Ministry of Health and Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) personnel complete the transfer of a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machine, which is used to test for pathogens like the COVID-19 virus, from the U.S. government to the Djiboutian Ministry of Health during a ceremony at the ministry’s Central Purchasing of Materials and Essential Medicines facility in Djibouti City, Djibouti, Aug. 17, 2020. CJTF-HOA purchased the equipment on behalf of the United States using Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster Assistance, and Civic Aid (OHDACA) funds for approximately $76,000, following a request for aid from the Djiboutian government earlier this year. In total, CJTF-HOA has facilitated nearly $300,000 worth of U.S. aid to the government of Djibouti, including hygiene kits, 95 hospital beds, PPE and hand sanitizer among other supplies and equipment. Dagvin Anderson, commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and AFRICOM senior leaders, conducted a series of high-level visits to Africa with stops in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Puntland, Nov. 23-27, 2025. The visits were part of an East Africa trip aimed to strengthen America’s strategic approach to confronting terrorism through mutual engagement, stronger cooperation, and aligned security priorities.
