October 5, 2013, was a day like most others for Staff Sergeant Luke Thompson. As a team sergeant for the 443rd Civil Affairs Battalion at Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), Thompson was responsible for leading engagement teams into local communities outside Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti.
