Inaugural flag ceremony symbolizes progression of Camp, CJTF-HOA

The U.S and Djiboutian flags now fly in front of the new joint headquarters building on Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, thanks to some of the camp's Seabees.

Sailor's assigned to Camp Lemonnier, raised the Colors in a symbol of cooperative integration between Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa and Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa, the in front of the newly-slated joint headquarters May 17, 2017. Marking the first time this was conducted in front of one of the installation’s newest structures, the twice-daily ceremony honors both the U.S. and Djiboutian flags. In a symbol of cooperative integration between Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa and Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa, the Colors were raised by Sailors assigned to Camp Lemonnier in front of the new joint headquarters building May 17. Marking the first time this was conducted in front of one of the installation’s newest structures, the twice-daily ceremony honors both the U.S. and Djiboutian flags. The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
