Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa Image

Camp Lemonnier and Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa representatives and French forces in Djibouti commemorate Victory in Europe Day, May 8, 2016, at the French base in Djibouti. During the ceremony, General Philippe Montocchio, commander of French forces in Djibouti, spoke about one of the strongest elements of the war, the men and women across Europe resisting against the invading enemy. V-E Day, observed annually in France, celebrates the victory in Europe, ending World War II, and became a national French holiday. US AFRICOM Commander Visits East Africa Region
U.S. Air Force Gen. Dagvin Anderson, commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and AFRICOM senior leaders, conducted a series of high-level visits to Africa with stops in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Puntland, Nov. 23-27, 2025. The visits were part of an East Africa trip aimed to strengthen America’s strategic approach to confronting terrorism through mutual engagement, stronger cooperation, and aligned security priorities.
