Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa Image

CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti – Volunteers from the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Army, place an American Flag-dressed, temperature-controlled casket cover over mock human remains during a mass casualty exercise, June 1, 2016, at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. Services personnel from the 870th Air Expeditionary Squadron, along with volunteers from the U.S. Navy, Marines, Army and Air Force tested their skills in search and recovery and mortuary affairs collection point processes during a mock vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonation resulting in two casualties. US AFRICOM Commander Visits East Africa Region
U.S. Air Force Gen. Dagvin Anderson, commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and AFRICOM senior leaders, conducted a series of high-level visits to Africa with stops in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Puntland, Nov. 23-27, 2025. The visits were part of an East Africa trip aimed to strengthen America’s strategic approach to confronting terrorism through mutual engagement, stronger cooperation, and aligned security priorities.
