Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa Image

CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti – Volunteers from the U.S. Navy, Marines, Army and Air Force test their new skills in mortuary affairs collection point processes and procedures during a mass casualty exercise, June 1, 2016, at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. The exercise began at a nearby airfield when a mock vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated causing two casualties to test the search and recovery, communication, coordination and mortuary affairs collection point processes between Camp Lemonnier, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa and a nearby airfield personnel. US AFRICOM Commander Visits East Africa Region
U.S. Air Force Gen. Dagvin Anderson, commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and AFRICOM senior leaders, conducted a series of high-level visits to Africa with stops in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Puntland, Nov. 23-27, 2025. The visits were part of an East Africa trip aimed to strengthen America’s strategic approach to confronting terrorism through mutual engagement, stronger cooperation, and aligned security priorities.
