Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa Image

ARTA PLAGE, Djibouti – U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Juan Grisales and Sgt. 1st Class Servio Tiffer, 1st Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment, and the rest of their team complete the first obstacle during a timed-water obstacle event as part of the French Marines Desert Survival Course, Oct. 10, 2016, at Arta Plage, Djibouti. Approximately 46 U.S. Army Soldiers with French Marines completed several tasks during the survival course, including desert operations, combat lifesaving skills, weapons training, survival cooking, how to decontaminate water, and water and mountain obstacle courses. US AFRICOM Commander Visits East Africa Region
U.S. Air Force Gen. Dagvin Anderson, commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and AFRICOM senior leaders, conducted a series of high-level visits to Africa with stops in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Puntland, Nov. 23-27, 2025. The visits were part of an East Africa trip aimed to strengthen America’s strategic approach to confronting terrorism through mutual engagement, stronger cooperation, and aligned security priorities.
