CJTF-HOA transports cargo to Mozambique

Department of Defense personnel load a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) food pallet onto a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III, assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, supporting Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, April 2, 2019, for the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) humanitarian relief effort in the Republic of Mozambique and surrounding areas following Cyclone Idai. CJTF-HOA, which is leading the DoD relief effort, transported 17,400 pounds of USAID food, a forklift, a 25K loader and palletizing equipment on the C-17 to Mozambique following a call for assistance from the USAID Disaster Assistance Response Team. Lapse In Appropriations
The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
