Combined Joint Task Force - Horn

Kenya Air Force Lt. Col. Rodah Mwasigwa, foreign liaison officer (FLO) for Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), stands by the CJTF-HOA shield in the headquarters building, Jun. 11, 2020, at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. Mwasigwa serves as the first female FLO from the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF). Mwasigwa’s role as a FLO include liaising between KDF headquarters and CJTF-HOA on matters pertaining to operations and training, briefing Joint Task Force headquarters on activities within Kenya or the African Union Mission to Somalia’s (AMISOM) area of responsibility, and coordinating with coalition partners and nations represented at CJTF-HOA for a seamless, accurate flow of information. Combined Joint Task Force–Horn of Africa conducted an Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise in the Union of the Comoros, Jan. 23–26, 2026. U.S. Air Force Gen. Dagvin Anderson, commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and AFRICOM senior leaders, conducted a series of high-level visits to Africa with stops in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Puntland, Nov. 23-27, 2025. The visits were part of an East Africa trip aimed to strengthen America’s strategic approach to confronting terrorism through mutual engagement, stronger cooperation, and aligned security priorities.
