U.S. Soldiers conduct Live-Fire Training in Djibouti, Africa

U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to Task Force Iron Gray, Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), ride in a Light Medium Tactical Vehicle while convoying to the Djiboutian Range Complex, Djibouti, Aug. 24, 2021, to conduct a live-fire exercise. Live-fire exercises validate a platoon’s proficiency to take command and control through reinforcing concepts like supporting fire, base of fire and synchronization of fires. CJTF-HOA, operating from Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, is a dynamic operational headquarters that ensures strategic partnership with Djibouti, responds to crises, supports operations and protects U.S. interests in East Africa in order to enhance regional stability and prosperity. Lapse In Appropriations
The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
