Combined Joint Task Force - Horn

Thirty-two French service members with the 5th Overseas Interarms Regiment (5e RIAOM) successfully complete the Joint Expeditionary Mountain Warfare Course and are awarded the Ram’s Head device and certificate of completion during a graduation ceremony at the French Combat Training Center at Arta Beach, Djibouti, Dec. 16, 2021. Five instructors from the U.S. Army Mountain Warfare School in Jericho, Vt. taught a five-day Joint Expeditionary Mountain Warfare Course on basic military mountaineering skills to French service members in Djibouti to strengthen the relationships among the international forces working together in the region. U.S. Air Force Gen. Dagvin Anderson, commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and AFRICOM senior leaders, conducted a series of high-level visits to Africa with stops in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Puntland, Nov. 23-27, 2025. The visits were part of an East Africa trip aimed to strengthen America’s strategic approach to confronting terrorism through mutual engagement, stronger cooperation, and aligned security priorities.
