U.S. Soldier conquers French Desert Commando Course

For nearly fifty years, French soldiers stationed in Djibouti have made their way to Arta Mountains for the French Desert Command course, a grueling five-day course designed to test soldiers’ physical, emotional and mental limits. This year 40 U.S. service members signed up for the challenge, among them was U.S. Army SGT Liliana Munday.

CJTF-HOA shares Thanksgiving spirit with Djibouti through Turkey Bowl

For U.S. citizens, Thanksgiving has long been a time of family, togetherness, taking a moment to reflect on all the things they are thankful for and of course, football. U.S. service members assigned to Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa brought that spirit to Djibouti when they invited host nation partners on base for the Turkey Bowl, Nov. 25, 2023. Turkey Bowl started the night with a soccer tournament where teams from CJTF-HOA, the Djibouti Republican Guard, Djibouti Coast Guard and Djibouti National Police faced off in a series of matches.

CLDJ Chief Petty Officers invite Joint service members into CPO Initiation

10/5/2023
The latest CPO Initiation at Camp Lemonnier Djibouti, included not only Sailors, but two Soldiers, an Airman, and a Marine. The top noncommissioned officers from each U.S. military branches were afforded the opportunity to participate in the traditional Navy training and be inducted into the CPO Mess upon completion. The candidates will be recognized as Chief Petty Officers not just at Camp Lemonnier, but across the entire Navy.
