The U.S. Ambassador to Djibouti, Larry André, hosted the annual National Day celebration at his residence in Djibouti City, Djibouti, Feb. 11, 2020. The event commemorates the 244th year of U.S. independence and is typically held each spring to avoid the summer heat. Military personnel from Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), Camp Lemonnier Djibouti (CLDJ), coalition partners, guests, and U.S. Embassy staff attended the celebration.
411th CA veterinarians host seminar for Djiboutian veterinarians and sanitary inspectors

A team of two veterinarians and a veterinarian technician from the 411th Civil Affairs Functional Specialty Team (CA FXST) hosted the first in a series of monthly seminars this year in Djibouti City, Jan. 29 and 30.
More than a dozen participants received information on various topics ranging from food handling safety to bacteriology. The target audience of the training included veterinarians and sanitary inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Djibouti, Veterinary Services Division.

JLOC responsible for CJTF-HOA’s logistical movement needs

With a land area that covers roughly the same size as the Eastern U.S. seaboard, getting people and equipment where they need to be within the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa’s (CJTF-HOA) area of responsibility can be a challenge.
Ensuring that challenge is met is the six-member team at the CJTF-HOA Joint Logistics Operations Center (JLOC), which oversees the majority of air, sea and surface passenger and cargo movement for the command.
