1/124th soldiers engage in team exercises

U.S. Army soldiers of Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment participate in a fire team exercise in Arta, Djibouti, Oct. 20, 2016. Delta Company regularly practices fire team exercises, utilizing maneuvers that were used in Iraq and Afghanistan. The intent of the exercise was to teach soldiers how to move from inside a vehicle when in contact with the enemy, exit the vehicle, and then return fire effectively using live ammunition on simulated targets. U.S. Air Force Gen. Dagvin Anderson, commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and AFRICOM senior leaders, conducted a series of high-level visits to Africa with stops in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Puntland, Nov. 23-27, 2025. The visits were part of an East Africa trip aimed to strengthen America’s strategic approach to confronting terrorism through mutual engagement, stronger cooperation, and aligned security priorities.
