Airman 1st Class Anneke Bentley’s voice cut through the dense heat like a fresh breeze, swirling around the smiling children. A drum beat, popping from the blithe yet powerful cajon, was cooled by the plucked strings of the upright base. The accordion’s airy whistle and sigh soothed as the guitar resonated alongside the honeyed vocals.
